What are successful restaurants doing to maintain clients?

  1. Simple. Personalize the experience. From the phone call to the host stand to the 'good bye', successful restaurants should always be looking for ways to connect with each and every guest on a personal level. We coach our host staff to take notes on everything the guest says when they are taking the reservation. "We're coming in from Iowa and we heard your restaurant is great!". "it's my wifes birthday". Then when the guest checks in, our crack staff says things like "happy birthday mrs. jones", or "how was the trip from Iowa?". Little things like this have a huge impact. Things like using their names and remembering details about them (where they like to sit, who their favorite server is, the names of their children) can go a long way to create an "ownership" for folks who in turn will frequent your place and tell and bring all of their friends. Best of all.....it costs you nothing!!
